Timber Pallet Price Hike

Consider your shipping platform of choice warns Goplasticpallets.com following massive timber pallet price hike

As pressures on the availability and price of timber continue into the New Year, UK wood packaging and pallet suppliers have been forced to increase the price of new wooden pallets by as much as 18% from 8th January 2021.

Jim Hardisty, Managing Director of Goplasticpallets.com, said: “This announcement coupled with the new requirements in place permitting only heat treated ISPM-15 wooden pallets to transit between the UK and EU, is a further blow to the wood packaging industry.

“If there was ever a good time to review the shipping platform you use for transiting your goods, now is that time. The price of our plastic pallets remains consistent across our extensive range.”

Pressures on the availability and price of timber continue into the New Year

A letter from a major supplier of wood packaging material explained last month of the struggles the industry has been facing and why the price increase is necessary. It explained that whilst it has been competing with the fencing and wider construction industry for timber supplies, demand from other parts of the world has also risen as other countries have emerged from Covid restrictions. In addition, the well reported backlog in Irish tree felling licenses and a general struggle with Baltic log supply has put increasing pressure on UK sawmills.

Jim continued: “If there is one thing our logistics industry needs right now it’s reliability, and that’s exactly what we offer at Goplasticpallets.com. A reliable shipping platform exempt from ISPM-15 heat treatment requirements and a reliable service – stocking the UK’s widest range of plastic pallets means that we’re able to deliver large volumes direct from stock.”
