President's nominated charity is off and running!

Following his election as AMHSA President, Duncan Pointon nominated the Alder Hey Children’s Charity to be supported by AMHSA during his time in post.

The fundraising got under way recently when Matt Jones from the AMHSA Secretariat Team ran the Hackney Half Marathon on Sunday 21st May in support.  Following his efforts two weeks earlier, when he had run the Birmingham 10K, Matt commented “that is was only fair that I should run for the new presidents’ charity as well as the last one”.

Sprint Finish – Matt completes the course in 1:59:02

Matt’s training has seemed to have paid off as he managed a sprint finish and completed the course breaking his two hour goal, just! With a time of 1:59:02 Matt was was really pleased saying, “I felt good towards the end and could see the finish line with about 600 metres to go”, “I upped my pace and still had enough in the tank to sprint the last 200 metres or so”.

AMHSA Member companies employees’ have sponsored Matt which has given the kickstart to the associations charitable efforts for the coming next two years, in aid of Alder Hey Children’s Charity, which they had hoped for.  Further events will be in aid of the charity including the AMHSA Sporting Challenge event in on 26th July, details of which are available on the AMHSA website.
