In the 1990s, the Hatteland Group built a large new warehouse to store the electronic components it sold in Northern Europe.
When shelves filled to capacity in the first month, Hatteland’s Technical Director Ingvar Hognaland had an epiphany: Why store things like dominos, when we could store them like a Rubik’s cube? Let’s stop “airhousing” and start warehousing.
That became the birth of cube storage automation and AutoStore…
AutoStore is now a global company, with 1,500+ Systems in 50 countries. All sales are distributed, designed, installed, and serviced by a network of qualified system integrators referred to as “partners”.
AutoStore was founded in Nedre Vats, on the west coast of Norway. The company has offices in Norway, the U.S., UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Austria, South Korea, Japan, Australia, and Singapore, as well as production facilities in Koszalin, Poland. The local UK office in Castle Donnington, boasts a live grid demonstration which is available to try out upon request.
