AMHSA Secretariat Team Member Runs For President

By 11th April 2023 No Comments

Matt Jones finally makes the start line - Better Late than never!!

It’s been a long two years since Mike Burke, e k robotics, was elected as president of AMHSA. On that day in April 2021 Mike pledged, the presidents honour, that during his tenure the association would endeavour to raise funds on behalf of Parkinson’s UK.

Not being shy, Mike got on his bike, donned the obligatory middle aged lycra look, and cycled the London to Brighton bicycle ride, raising considerable funds to this very worthy cause.

Not to be outdone Matt Jones, AMHSA Administration and Events Manager, has promised to complete a run in order to support Mike’s efforts. However, the dreaded covid 19 struck him for a second time and prevented him from taking part in a long distance run.

Despite the excuses Matt, not to be deterred, will be competing in the AJ Bell Great Birmingham 10K on Sunday 7th May. “I promised Mike that I would do everything I could to support his nominated charity and would have gone further if I could” said Matt. “But, with the new president being elected and nominating a new charity in April, I didn’t feel I could not support the incoming charity as well, especially whilst I am likely to be at my fittest”, “it seems silly not to do another run whilst I am at it” he added.

He didn’t want to give anymore away but would only say that he would be making further announcements once he knew more about the new charity.

If you would like to support Matt in his endeavours then please use the link below and give generously to the incumbent AMHSA supported charity  – Parkinson’s UK.
